CSK and RR Officially Knocked Out of IPL 2025 Playoffs
Two big teams in the Indian Premier League—Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR)—have officially been eliminated from the playoff race in the 2025 season.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK, one of the most successful franchises in IPL history with five titles, had a tough season this year. They lost eight out of ten matches, which pushed them to the bottom of the points table. In their recent game against Punjab Kings, CSK posted 190 runs but couldn’t defend it. A stunning spell by Yuzvendra Chahal, who took four wickets in five balls, including a hat-trick, sealed their fate. This loss confirmed their early exit from the playoff race.
Throughout the season, CSK struggled with poor form, injuries, and an old-school batting strategy. Key players like Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Shivam Dube couldn’t deliver consistently. Captain MS Dhoni admitted the team needs to rebuild and rethink its approach for future seasons.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Rajasthan Royals also had a disappointing end. After starting strong, they lost form mid-season and were officially knocked out after suffering a massive 100-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians. Chasing a target of 217 runs, RR’s batting collapsed, and they were bowled out for just 117.
With this loss, RR became the second team to be eliminated from IPL 2025 playoffs. Their batting lineup failed under pressure, and their bowlers couldn’t stop Mumbai’s aggressive batting.
What’s Next?
With CSK and RR out, the race for playoffs heats up among the remaining teams. Both franchises—who have a huge fan following—will now look forward to rebuilding their squads in the next auction and coming back stronger in IPL 2026.
