PM Modi Calls Young Cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi ‘Son of Bihar’

Patna, Bihar – Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised 14-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi and called him the “son of Bihar” during an event held in Patna for the Khelo India Youth Games.

Vaibhav, who comes from Samastipur in Bihar, became famous after scoring 100 runs in just 35 balls in an IPL 2025 match for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans. His amazing performance made him the youngest player to score a century in IPL history.

PM Modi said that Vaibhav’s hard work and talent are a big inspiration for young people across India. He said, “Vaibhav’s success shows what dedication and practice can do. He has made not only Bihar but the whole country proud.”

Modi also spoke about how the government is encouraging sports in schools and colleges. He said that traditional Indian games like Kho-Kho, Gatka, and Malkhamb are now part of the Khelo India Youth Games. Sports, he added, are now an important part of the new education system in India.

Vaibhav’s achievement is giving hope to many young athletes in small towns and villages, showing that with talent and effort, anything is possible.
