IPL 2025 Will Start Again from May 17, Says BCCI

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced that the IPL 2025 will restart on May 17. The tournament was stopped for a few days because of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, but now the situation is better, and matches will continue.

There are 17 matches left in this IPL season — 12 league matches and 5 playoff games. These matches will take place in six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow. The venues for the playoff games will be shared later.

The final match of the IPL is planned for June 3. There will also be two Sundays with double matches, which means fans can enjoy two games on the same day.

The BCCI spoke with the government, security teams, and team owners before deciding to continue the tournament. They wanted to make sure everything is safe for the players, teams, and fans.

The BCCI has asked teams to call back their foreign players who went home during the break. However, if some players are not able to return due to other international matches or personal reasons, they won’t be punished.

Cricket boards from countries like Australia and England are also checking if their players can return for the rest of the IPL. Some players might miss their national matches if they play till the end of IPL.

The 2025 IPL season had started on March 22 but had to be stopped on May 9. Now, fans can again enjoy the remaining matches as teams fight to win the trophy. The BCCI said that safety and national interest will always be most important, even as the cricket action returns.
