Selling Pakistani Flags Online: Indian Government Sends Notices to E-Commerce Companies
The Indian government has sent official notices to popular online shopping platforms like Amazon India, Flipkart, Ubuy India, Etsy, The Flag Company, and The Flag Corporation. The reason? These websites were found selling Pakistani national flags and related items on their Indian portals.
This issue came to light after people complained that Pakistan’s flags and merchandise were being sold online in India, which many saw as disrespectful and unacceptable. In response, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs took the matter seriously and sent notices to the companies asking for an explanation.
Officials said that selling national flags of other countries, especially those with sensitive relations like Pakistan, is not allowed and could hurt national sentiments. The platforms have now been asked to remove those products immediately and explain how such listings were allowed in the first place.
The companies must also share information about who listed the products and what steps were taken to approve such sales. If they don’t respond on time or fail to take action, the government may take strict legal steps or impose heavy fines.
After this news broke out, many people on social media expressed anger and questioned how big companies like Amazon and Flipkart allowed this to happen. They demanded better monitoring and stricter rules for online sellers.
The government reminded all online platforms that they must follow Indian laws and respect public emotions. Allowing the sale of foreign flags, especially that of Pakistan, is seen as a serious mistake.
The matter is still being investigated, and if similar issues are found on other platforms, more notices may be sent. This is a strong warning to all e-commerce websites to be careful about what they sell online in India.
