Ford Recalls Over 1 Million Vehicles in U.S. Due to Rear Camera Glitch
Ford is recalling more than 1.1 million vehicles in the United States because of a problem with the rearview camera. The issue may cause the camera screen to freeze, show a delay, or not work at all when the car is in reverse. This can make it harder for drivers to see what’s behind them, increasing the chance of an accident.
The recall affects many Ford and Lincoln models made between 2021 and 2025. Some of the popular models include the Ford F-150, Bronco, Edge, Escape, Mustang Mach-E, and Lincoln Navigator and Nautilus.
The problem is caused by a software error in the car’s media system. Ford will fix it by giving a free software update to affected vehicles. Car owners will start getting letters about the recall from June 16, 2025. The fix should be ready by the third quarter of the year.
The U.S. government’s safety agency, NHTSA, began looking into the issue after getting 37 complaints from drivers. So far, one minor crash has been linked to the problem, but no one has been hurt.
Ford had a similar problem in 2020 and was fined $165 million because they didn’t act quickly enough.
If you own a Ford or Lincoln vehicle, you can check if it’s affected by visiting the NHTSA website or calling Ford customer service. It’s important to get the update once it’s available to stay safe while driving.
