IndiGo Flight to Srinagar Hit by Storm, Denied Pakistani Airspace

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar had a scary experience on May 21, 2025. The plane got caught in a strong hailstorm while flying, which caused the aircraft to shake badly and damaged its front part (called the nose cone).

What Happened in the Sky?

The flight had 227 passengers, including some Members of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress. When the plane was near Amritsar, the weather turned dangerous. The pilot saw a storm ahead and asked Pakistan’s air traffic control for permission to enter their airspace for safety.

But Pakistan did not allow the plane to enter. So, the flight had no choice but to fly through the heavy turbulence and stormy weather.

Emergency Landing in Srinagar

The pilot quickly declared an emergency and managed to land the plane safely in Srinagar at around 6:30 PM. All the passengers were safe, though many were frightened by the rough journey.

What People Are Saying

Many people are praising the pilot and crew for staying calm and saving everyone on board. Experts say that during emergencies, countries should help each other, especially when lives are at risk. The airline is now checking the aircraft and helping the passengers after this scary incident.
