13 AAP Councillors Resign, Launch New Party ‘Indraprastha Vikas Party’

In a major political move, 13 councillors from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi have resigned and announced the formation of a new party called the Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP).

The group is led by Mukesh Goel, a senior leader and former Leader of the House in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Addressing the media, he said, “We were not given proper support from AAP leadership. Even though we wanted to work for the people, we were not allowed to do so freely.”

All 13 councillors have joined the new party and stated that they will not ally with any national party like BJP or Congress. “We will work independently and focus on solving local issues in Delhi,” said Goel.

These leaders were elected in 2022 on AAP tickets, but say they were unable to fulfill their promises due to poor coordination from the party. Their new party, IVP, plans to focus on civic problems like sanitation, roads, water supply, and overall development of local areas.

This development comes after AAP’s recent losses in elections and growing internal disagreements. Experts believe that this could affect AAP’s control in municipal matters and give rise to a new political force in the capital.
