Donald Trump Puts 100% Tax on Foreign Films to Support Hollywood

Donald Trump announced that the U.S. will charge a 100% tax (called a tariff) on all movies made outside of America. He says this is to protect and support the Hollywood film industry, which he believes is losing jobs and money because of foreign movies.

Trump explained that many countries are offering deals to make movies cheaper outside the U.S., and that is hurting American film workers. He also said too many foreign films could spread messages that don’t match American values. He called it a national security issue.

This new rule means that any foreign movie entering the U.S. may become twice as expensive. It’s still not clear if the rule also includes movies on streaming platforms like Netflix or just those shown in theaters.

Some people support this move, saying it will help Hollywood grow and bring back jobs. Others disagree, warning that it might lead to other countries also taxing or banning American films.

For now, the U.S. government is working on how to apply the new tax. The final rules and details are expected to come out soon.
