The Indian government has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels on April 28, 2025.
These channels were banned because they were spreading fake news and wrong information about India after the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that these channels were trying to create fear, confusion, and religious tension in India.
To keep peace and protect the country, the government decided to block them.
Names of Some Banned Channels:
- Dawn News
- ARY News
- Samaa TV
- Geo News
- Bol News
- Suno News
- Raftar
- Razi Naama
- GNN
- The Pakistan Reference
- And a few famous YouTubers like Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, and Muneeb Farooq.
Together, these channels had about 63 million followers.
Why Was the Ban Important?
- They were sharing fake stories about India.
- They were trying to create fights between religions.
- They were misleading people during a very sensitive time.
The government said it is very important to stop false information to keep the country safe.
Other Steps Taken by India:
- Stopped the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
- Closed the Attari border checkpoint.
- Reduced the number of Pakistani diplomats in India.
- Cancelled special visa agreements for Pakistanis.
Also, the Indian government warned BBC for using wrong words while reporting about the terror attack.
