Pakistan Starts Repair Work After Indian Airstrikes Damaged Airbases
Pakistan has started repairing several of its airbases after they were damaged by Indian Air Force (IAF) airstrikes during a recent operation called Operation Sindoor. The strikes happened between May 8 and May 10. Pakistan has now issued public tenders, asking companies to help fix the damaged runways, buildings, and other military structures.
According to reports, India targeted 11 airbases, including major ones like Nur Khan, Sargodha, Skardu, Bholari, and Jacobabad. These bases suffered serious damage, and some of them could not operate for a few days. Satellite images also confirmed the destruction caused by the strikes.
A retired Pakistani Air Marshal, Masood Akhtar, confirmed that a valuable surveillance aircraft (AWACS) was destroyed at Bholari airbase. He said this loss was a big setback for the country’s defense system.
Experts believe that about 20% of Pakistan’s air force infrastructure was affected. This includes radar systems, control rooms, and aircraft shelters. The damage has reduced Pakistan’s ability to monitor its airspace and respond quickly to threats.
Now, Pakistan is inviting contractors to repair the damaged airbases as quickly as possible. This is one of the few times Pakistan has publicly admitted the level of damage caused by Indian strikes. Defense analysts say this shows how serious the situation is and how urgently Pakistan wants to rebuild its air force bases.
