Russia carried out one of its biggest attacks on Ukraine since the war began. More than 400 drones and 40 missiles were launched overnight, hitting several cities across the country. The attack caused many deaths, injuries, and heavy damage to buildings and power systems.

Cities like Kyiv, Lviv, Chernihiv, Ternopil, and Lutsk were hit. In Kyiv, three emergency workers died while trying to put out fires caused by the explosions. Many others were hurt, and metro trains had to be stopped. In other parts of the country, homes and important buildings were damaged, and electricity was lost in some areas.

Ukraine’s air defense systems were able to stop many of the drones and missiles, but some still got through and caused destruction. Videos shared by local officials showed explosions lighting up the night sky and rescue workers helping people out of damaged buildings.

Russia said this attack was a response to a recent Ukrainian drone operation that damaged Russian military aircraft. They called Ukraine’s actions “terrorist attacks” and warned that more strikes could happen.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned the Russian attacks. He said innocent people were being targeted and asked other countries to send more help, especially better air defense weapons to protect Ukraine’s cities.

Many countries have expressed concern and are worried that the war is getting worse. With both sides using more drones and long-range weapons, there is growing fear that peace may be far away, and more people will continue to suffer.
