SRH Must Rethink Batting Order: Klaasen and Aniket Verma Deserve Promotion Over Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy
As the IPL 2025 campaign intensifies, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) must take a hard look at their batting strategy. With inconsistency haunting their middle order, it’s clear that a revised batting order is urgently needed. The current combination has not delivered the firepower expected, especially in high-pressure situations where games have slipped away due to poor shot selection and lack of momentum.
Two players who can make a real difference are Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma. Klaasen, already known for his explosive finishes and ability to tackle spin and pace alike, has the temperament and firepower to bat higher up the order. Promoting him would not only give him more time at the crease but could also provide SRH with the strong middle-overs acceleration they’ve been lacking.
Aniket Verma, a promising young talent, has shown impressive strokeplay and confidence in limited opportunities. Pushing him up the order could offer a fresh attacking option and take pressure off the top order, which has often found itself under strain.
To make room for this strategic shift, Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy may need to step down. While both are talented, their recent performances have failed to justify their positions. Kishan has struggled for rhythm, and Nitish, despite being retained for a high value, has yet to find consistency.
With playoffs on the horizon, SRH cannot afford to rely on potential—they need performance. A batting order led by Klaasen’s experience and Aniket’s fresh intent might be the spark SRH needs to turn their season around.
