Communal violence Breaks Out in Nainital After Arrest of Elderly Man in Rape Case
In a disturbing turn of events, violence erupted in Nainital, Uttarakhand, after the arrest of a 75-year-old man from a minority community accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. The incident triggered tension between different communities, leading to clashes, stone-pelting, and damage to property in some parts of the town.
According to police officials, the girl’s family lodged a complaint, and the medical examination supported their claim. The elderly man was taken into custody and is being investigated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. However, after news of his arrest spread, protests and anger escalated, and members of opposing groups got involved in street fights.
