ICC Announces Record Prize $3.6 million Money Boost for WTC Final 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a big increase in prize money for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025, which will be played at Lord’s in London from June 11 to 15.

This time, the total prize money is $5.76 million, which is more than double what was given in the last edition. The winning team, either Australia or South Africa, will receive $3.6 million. In 2023, the winners got only $1.6 million.

The runner-up of the final will get $2.16 million, up from $800,000 in the previous tournament.

Other teams in the top six will also get a share of the money:

  • India (3rd place) – $1.44 million
  • New Zealand (4th place) – $1.2 million
  • England (5th place) – $960,000
  • Sri Lanka (6th place) – $840,000

The ICC said this prize money boost is meant to support and promote Test cricket, which is the oldest and most traditional form of the game. The goal is to encourage teams to focus more on Test matches and play them with full effort.

This decision has been welcomed by fans and players, as it shows the ICC’s commitment to keeping Test cricket alive and exciting in today’s modern cricket world.
