James Anderson Feels Honoured as India-England Test Series Gets New Name The Tendulkar–Anderson Trophy

England fast bowler James Anderson said it’s a “huge honour” after learning that the India-England Test series has been renamed the Tendulkar–Anderson Trophy. This new name celebrates both Anderson and Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for their incredible contributions to Test cricket.

The series, which was earlier called the Pataudi Trophy, will now carry the names of two of the game’s biggest stars. The next India-England five-match Test series will begin on June 20 in England, and it will be the first time the teams compete for the newly named trophy.

Anderson said he was surprised and deeply touched by this decision. He shared how much he admired Tendulkar while growing up and how special it was to play against him during his career. Anderson has taken 704 wickets in 188 Test matches, making him the most successful fast bowler in Test history. Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs in Test cricket, with 15,921 runs.

This trophy name change is a way to celebrate the rivalry, respect, and long careers of both players. The cricket boards of India and England agreed to honour them because they represented the spirit of Test cricket and gave fans many memorable moments over the years.

Anderson said he has many great memories of playing against India and is excited for the upcoming series. He believes both teams are strong and competitive, and fans can expect another exciting contest.

The Tendulkar–Anderson Trophy will now be the prize for all future India-England Test series played in England, continuing the tradition with a new identity that honours two cricketing legends.
