Pakistan Plans T20 TriSeries With Afghan & UAE If AsiaCup Gets Postponed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning a backup T20 tri-series with Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in case the Asia Cup 2025 is postponed or cancelled.

The Asia Cup is supposed to happen in September 2025, with India as the host. However, there are some political tensions between India and Pakistan, and it is still not clear if Pakistan will agree to play in India. Because of this, the future of the tournament is uncertain.

To make sure the Pakistan team gets to play important matches, the PCB has started talking to the Afghanistan and UAE cricket boards. They are planning a short T20 tournament in August 2025. It could take place in either Dubai or Pakistan, depending on what happens with the Asia Cup.

This tri-series may also replace an earlier planned series between Pakistan and Afghanistan. At the same time, Bangladesh is also in talks with Pakistan to play a few T20 matches in July.

The chairman of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), is expected to hold a meeting soon to decide whether the Asia Cup will happen as planned, be moved to a neutral venue, or get postponed.
