Rajeev Shukla Steps In After On-Field Fight Between Abhishek Sharma and Digvesh Rathi

During an IPL 2025 match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, a heated moment took place between two young players — Abhishek Sharma from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Digvesh Rathi from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The situation became serious enough that the BCCI Vice-President, Rajeev Shukla, had to step in to calm things down.

The incident happened when Digvesh Rathi got Abhishek Sharma out and celebrated by doing his usual “notebook” gesture. Abhishek felt it was insulting and responded with angry words. The two players got into an argument on the field, and umpires and teammates quickly stepped in to stop things from getting worse.

Even after the match ended, the tension between the players remained. That’s when Rajeev Shukla from the BCCI spoke to both of them to cool things down and remind them about respecting each other and the game. His involvement helped settle the issue.

As a result of their actions, the IPL officials gave Rathi a one-match suspension and fined him 50% of his match fee. Abhishek Sharma was fined 25% of his match fee for reacting poorly.
